Something else from my movie review files, review of a "classic" 1980s sci
fi movie with some info on the freaky '60s story it was based on. I think
this could be the most "popular" thing I've reviewed, and unfortunately,
it's not showing in my view counts.
A watched TV/cable/Netflix/Amazon/Apple/Youtube show's seldom seen in my
home. (There's typically too many ad sprinkles on too much bellyfeel.)
Instead, within the past decade, an inherited DVD and a couple of
boutique websites with a human voice (as opposed to robo-voiced, "your
call is important to us," pro pitch portals), clued me into Carpenter
and his movies. Your own review filled in the "Nada" comic piece of the
puzzle. (While other links hinted at "Nada"'s online availability.) The
comic certainly clears up the origin of the last scene in the movie.
_Deep Focus, A Novel Approach to Cinema, They Live_ (Lethem) offers
a scene-by-scene analysis of the movie. My copy of Nelson's short comes
out of _Science-Fiction Classics, The Stories That Morphed Into Movies_
