I'm solely familiar with L. Neil Smith from Big Head Press. This
review, of course, does not surprise me.

Have you ever read Smith's _Their Majesties Bucketeers_? IIRC, it is his
third published novel and doesn't have many political lectures.

I have fond but very vague memories of that one.
