Parable of the Talents by Octavia E. Butler
A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin
A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge

Living Trust by L. Timmel Duchamp

The fact that authors, editors and artists may have multiple
professional used names, legal names and socially used names -- either
simultaneously or consecutively -- creates a number of challenges for
bibliographers. The ISFDB FAQ discusses how the ISFDB project handles
this issue
(https://isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/ISFDB:FAQ#How_does_the_ISFDB_deal_with_author_name_changes.3F)
:

A title's author name(s) are entered into the ISFDB database the way
they appear on the publication's title page -- see
Template:PublicationFields:Author for details. If another version of a
publication credits the author(s) differently, then we create a separate
publication record for it.

Once it has been confirmed that two or more author names refer to the
same person and that the connections are publicly known, one name is
selected as the author's "canonical" name and the rest are designated
"alternate names". The name chosen to be the canonical name is the most
recognized name for the author within the SF genre.

Note that the canonical name need not be the same as any of the author's
legal names or socially used names. For example, Alice Bradley Sheldon's
most recognized in-genre name is James Tiptree, Jr. and Paul Myron
Anthony Linebarger's most recognized in-genre name is Cordwainer Smith
-- see Template:AuthorFields:CanonicalName for details. All of the
author's names are then linked within the ISFDB software to display the
author's bibliography on the canonical name page -- see Help:How to
record an alternate name for details. If the most recognized in-genre
name changes, the software connection is changed to use the new name as
the canonical name.

In an old joke from the Soviet era, a man is being interviewed by a
government functionary:

"Where were you born?"

"Saint Petersburg"

"Where were you educated?"

"Petrograd"

"Where do you live now?"

"Leningrad"

"Where do you want to live?"

"Saint Petersburg".

I guess he got his wish, but the joke is spoiled until/unless it is
renamed again.

I have not watched a movie for decades. This whole category is NONE for
me for all occurrences.

Wow, I have two! Surprising for me and recent stuff. (2000 is still
recent, isn't it?)

Both the Vinge and the MacLeod. I prefer Vinge, but don't regret
the MacLeod.

Reminds me that I'm due for another run through Fire/Deepness/Children.

Is there anybody here who'd recommend internal chronology rather than
publication order for those?

I missed the Stewart. The Vinge is the only Favorite (a strong one).

I bought the Martins just as a matter of course as they come out. The
only non-duplicate SF books I've ever sold as I couldn't resist the
price. (I see it would have been even better to wait to sell; they're
now at $1200 for the unsigned first printing set. The signed sets seem
to be approaching $6000. Rather ridiculous.)

I read none of the shorter works.

I saw the same, which given the very few movies I watch is unexpected.
