You should wait 100 billion years to build a house if Radon is detected
in the ground.

I found this comic to be self-explanatory.

The problem of excess radon gas is usually dealt with
from my watching "This Old House" by ventilation of the basement
to the outside getting the radon out of the basement without
it entering the living quarters. (TOH addict.)

bliss - hobble, hobble.

I know it's not, bue radon always kind of sounded like a scam.
"There's this invisible, odorless, gas that gives you THE CANCERS!!!
Our detectors say YOU HAVE IT! Don't panic though, just install our
device and it will remove the radon. We can install a lightning rod for
you too."
Again, I know radon is real and real danger.
