Ahhhh...

1.) Sol is much more likely to expand and go slowly colder and....

b.) Someone will be sure to capture the energy of the nova and
use it to power some Hamiltonian system-killer, preferably
via remote control.

Ahhhh...
1.) Sol is much more likely to expand and go slowly colder and....

Cooler per unit area but more luminous overall because of the increased
surface area. Net effect: Earth gets seared or possibly consumed if the
Sun expands enough.
