The lie of USenet is dying is rebuff by these statistics
Usenet lives or the internet dies
In addition to looking very silly when appended to a report that a
newsgroup has been dead for years, and consists entirely of the
automated posting of the FAQ, this paragraph contains a typo that
should have been corrected decades ago.

Regardless, current traffic means nothing in predicting whether or not
Usenet can survive -- a group with no new members is a temporary
feature, like a conversation struck up in a check-out line, and
sometimes the "traffic" consists of the same weary posts being batted
back and forth.
