This got punted by my usual venue as it was felt the piece would only
lead to flame-wars and shouting at this time.

Corrupt Heads of State

Imagine the impossible: a corrupt American President! These authors did.

The "recent Supreme Court decision" is, I presume, the immunity ruling
I had commented on here.
While some have _speculated_ that Trump may be a Russian asset, this
hasn't been proven. He enouraged people to believe he won the 2020
election, and he was dilatory in his response to January 6.
Thus, while some improper conduct has been found, it's unclear if
something that can be classed as corruption is among his faults.

I don't think he needs to be acting on behalf of a foreign government
to be considered corrupt. I think merely acting on his own behalf and
making decisions in office specifically for personal gain counts as
corruption.

President Clark from Babylon 5 and Lex Luthor would both count on that
point; neither one was controlled by any foreign government although
there is always room for a sequel.

I have actually read two of the five (but I remember neither):
1. The Texas-Israeli War: 1999 by Jake Saunders and Howard Waldrop (1974)
5. Single Combat by Dean Ing (1983)
